We haven’t allowed the Grand Tourer class conventions to hold us back. In any way. Tradition may favour big, heavy engines that aren’t as fast or efficient as they might be… But at the core of the new McLaren GT is a potent and thrilling 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 – offering class-beating speed and acceleration.
It produces 620PS and 630Nm of torque. In a lean, elegant car that weighs just 1530kg. The resulting performance leaves convention far behind. Without exception. But our aim wasn’t about an onslaught of raw speed. The engine has been carefully engineered to produce a smooth, seamless flow of thrust. And torque is accessible from low revs for refined progress.
